Starting August 28, 2025—just in time for Labor Day weekend—Zoo Atlanta has reintroduced its train ride in a bold, new way. The beloved Safari Express aboard the Norfolk Southern Zoo Train has been completely revamped. Now, guest conductor Skylar guides riders through a fun, educational journey spotlighting animal superpowers—think giraffes’ long necks, lemurs’ agility, and lions’ strength—bringing wildlife adaptations to life for visitors of all ages

This eco-conscious attraction features a smooth, all-electric engine and cozy, covered coaches that ensure a comfortable journey regardless of the weather. Perfect for families, the ride combines nostalgia with fresh storytelling that connects children—and adults—to the wonder of wildlife
Whether you're a member or visiting for the first time, you can ride daily: from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and to 5:30 p.m. on weekends (weather and maintenance permitting)
For unlimited fun, grab an “All-Day Rides Wristband”—good for unlimited rides on both the Safari Express and the classic Endangered Species Carousel, with special discounts for members
